What muscles does biking work the most?

DR Yankee30™ asked:

I’m going to a bike camp this summer that goes 400 miles biking on the roads and highways. I’m trying to improve my leg muscle strength for Cross-Country and Track next year. What are the major muscles that this much biking will build up?

  1. ike Says:

Biking works almost all muscles in your legs as well as some in your arms and torso; but the main muscles biking works are your Quads(thighs), Hamstrings(back of your thigh), and Glutes(butt).

    Your leg musles

  3. That Guy (Finally a Sophomore!!) Says:

Your Quadriceps (front part of your thigh) and your hamstring (back part of your thigh)

That Sophomore Guy above has a good answer (I’m always baffled by the Glutes reference!)

Can I just mention, that your heart has a good work out too!!
